We love rapper Kendrick Lamar for his electrifying verses and social commentary. While on the heels of his highly acclaimed sophomore masterpiece ‘To Pimp A Butterfly,’ Kendrick really takes his message to the streets with his new Reebok Ventilator sneaker. The Los Angeles native collaborates with Reebok and aims to use his influence and fashion footwear platform to unite street gangs with his “Unity” inspired Reebok. The shoe brings both notorious street gangs, the Bloods and the Crips, together on your feet with a pair of Reebok Ventilators. One off-white suede shoe has a BLUE accent and the other shoe has a RED accent. Other shoe details include Kendrick’s signature on the outside of each tongue, the word NEUTRAL inscribed on the inside of each tongue, red and blue striped rope laces and Kendrick’s signature and TDE branding inscribed in the insole. Kendrick Lamar’s Reebok Ventilators are expected to hit stores July 18.
Check out the latest Kendrick Lamar video for “Alright” off of his highly acclaimed sophomore album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly.” The captivating black and white visual speaks to the growing problem of police brutality in America.

It looks like rapper Nicki Minaj is stepping into the predominately male sneaker game with her own limited edition shoe in collaboration with Air Jordan. The rapper debuted her sneaker she calls the “Print Pink Jordan” via her Instagram account this weekend. The sneaker doesn’t appear to be a brand new design, but rather a new colorway of the Jordan Westbrook 0, Russell Westbrook’s upcoming Jordan signature. There is no retail information as of yet but it looks like Nicki Minaj has joined the Air Jordan brand and continues to build her business portfolio with this latest sneaker venture.
Back in November Solange Knowles was named Art Director and Creative Consultant for the elite athletic footwear brand Puma. She immediately went to work building her team of designers to reinterpret the classic Puma Disc sneaker. Together they created ‘GIRLS OF BLAZE’, a vibrant, bold, fun sneaker collection inspired by the sights and sounds of Brazil.
In just three short months Solange presents her Puma ‘GIRLS OF BLAZE’ lookbook to officially kick off the new campaign. The campaign features stunning images of women of color making bold, expressive, stylish statements with hair and wardrobe while pushing the electrifying new Puma line to the forefront.
When asked her thoughts about the trend of ladies trading stilettos for sneakers Solange stated:
“I will be the first to admit, sneakers were always mostly used in my lifestyle in an athletic setting. However, once I moved to New York that changed. When you’re walking from spot to spot, hopping in and out of cabs and the train, by mid-day the thing that suffers the most are your feet. Going out at night? Forget about it! So I started to try to structure my outfits around a statement sneaker honestly out of practicality. I think women have really focused on the idea that sexiness and femininity is a state of mind, really projecting confidence throughout the voice of saying when I feel good, I look good. That can be interpreted in so many ways…but certainly a level of comfort can exist. You will never have more fun at the club when you are wearing sneakers really dancing your ass off! I’ve also noticed the gender lines have crossed so much when it comes to sneakers as well. Women are wearing men’s sneakers, and I can’t tell you how many men have asked me if the Discs from my collection will come in larger sizes so they can rock them as well! It’s really about giving people the best expressive and innovative designs possible and I think that has evolved so much in the sneaker community especially with the spirit of collaborations. Sneakers have gotten fun!”
We don’t know about you but we’re ready to shake off the winter blues and step into spring with the ‘Girls of Blaze’ sneaker collection by Solange. Looking forward to the collection hitting retail stores soon!
